Luxreisen was founded in 1972 by Hans Josef Lux in Bonn, Germany. What started in a modest upper-floor office soon evolved into one of Europe’s leading travel agencies for orchestras and choirs. From those early days, the company steadily grew—always moving closer to the heartbeat of the music world and continually adapting to the evolving needs of its clients.

In August, Hans Josef and Eva Lux founded their company, Luxreisen. More than 50 years later, the address is still Sandkaule 5–7.

A special train to Vienna for the Munich Philharmonic — sustainable travel was already a topic for us back then.

Annette Lux took over the management in 1997; from 2000, her sister Brigitta was also on board.

Annette Lux guides guests through 50 years of Luxreisen — at the dazzling concert celebration in Bonn's Beethoven House.
In the 1970s, Luxreisen began organizing international study trips in cooperation with the German Music Council, notably to ISME conferences across the globe. These early experiences laid the foundation for our specialization: tailor-made travel for musicians.
A defining moment came in 1988 when the Munich Philharmonic accompanied Chancellor Helmut Kohl to Moscow for his historic meeting with Mikhail Gorbachev. Luxreisen organized the orchestra’s travel—a symbolic beginning to a long-standing collaboration and a new chapter in international music diplomacy.
From charter flights to special trains, Luxreisen has always been more than a booking agency. In 1995, we even organized a custom train from Munich to Vienna for the Munich Philharmonic. Since 1981, we’ve toured the world with the Bamberg Symphony, including unforgettable moments like the 2007 papal concert at Castel Gandolfo.
The WDR Symphony Orchestra's three-week U.S. tour in 2002, and the NDR Elbphilharmonie Orchestra’s performance at the United Nations in New York, are just a few examples of the hundreds of journeys we’ve brought to life over the decades.
At Luxreisen, we combine logistical precision with a deep passion for music. Our team—now in its second generation, led by the children of the founders—understands both the complexity of international travel and the unique rhythm of musical tours. Today, we proudly serve world-class orchestras, soloists, and cultural institutions around the globe, including Berlin Philharmonic, Konzerthausorchester Berlin, London Symphony Orchestra, The Orchestra dell'Accademia Nazionale di Santa Cecilia and many more.
As we celebrated our 50th anniversary in 2022, we reflected not just on where we’ve been—but on where we’re going. With a dedicated team and the spirit of our founders guiding us, we remain committed to creating seamless, meaningful travel experiences for musicians everywhere.
Let the musical journey continue.
